A large manufacturer with a global client base sought THRD's help in one of its key HR initiatives. The organization had experienced growth, driven in part by acquisition of subsidiaries. As is often the case with an acquisition, integrating new employees and creating an infrastructure to help manage the human capital became important goals. THRD assisted the client with benchmarking current jobs in all areas of the organization against similar jobs in similar markets to help determine competitive pay levels. The critical challenge, however, was designing a salary grade/range structure that would replace multiple structures (which had in total more than 60 separate grades and ranges) and moving to a cost-effective structure that would better support the strategy of the business and its people culture.
